The simple answer

How much protein does a mom actually need?

Short version: more than you are getting. Here is the longer version, without the science lecture.

The number everyone quotes

The general guideline most nutrition folks point to is around 0.7 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day for active adults. That is a starting point, not a prescription, and it shifts with your age, activity, and goals.

Here is what that looks like in real life: most busy moms I talk to are getting maybe 50 to 70 grams a day without trying. The gap between that and where they feel good is the whole game.

Where I landed

My target is 130 to 150 grams a day. I did not pull it from a calculator. I got there by paying attention: when I consistently hit that range, my energy steadied, my strength went up, and the 3pm crash stopped running my life.

Your number might be different. That is fine. The point is not my number, it is finding yours and then building a system that hits it without a second thought.

The only math that matters

  • Protein first, every time you eat. Before the carbs, before the extras. First.
  • Graze on purpose. Protein every couple of hours beats three perfect meals you will never cook.
  • Stock the grab and go. If it is not in the fridge, it is not happening.
